FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP - Round 1
27 June 2005
The concession of early goals proved our downfall on Sunday v North
London Shamrocks in our first Championship outing.
A much improved second half performance showed
the ability of the team though and it's hoped they'll show this form in
their outings for the remaining games this year.

FOOTBALLERS IN TOUGH MATCH V NORTH LONDON
04 May 2005
Our Footballers came up short aginst a strong North London Shamrocks
side in their League encounter on Saturday last at Greenford going down
on a 2-13 to 3-5 scoreline.
With North London being an amalgamation of two
former senior sides - Shannon Rovers and St Teresas - they were always
going to be tough to handle and so it proved.

MURPHY CUP FOOTBALL
10 November 2004
A
weakened football outfit lost out to a powerful Moindearg side in the
semi-final of the Murphy Cup at Greenford on Saturday last, eventually
losing out on a 4-12 to 2-2 scoreline.
Work and family commitments amongst other
factors meant that the panel we sent out against a strong Moindearg team
was always facing an uphill struggle and so it proved as the West of
Ireland men showed little mercy for our personnel dilemna over the hour
!!
It was a shame that, what proved to be, the
footballers final outing for 2004 ended in defeat. Overall though our
young panel can look back on the year as a valuable lesson in terms of
how narrow the margin between success and failure can be. Our
footballers are on a learning curve and will learn from their
experiences this year to hopefully come back as a far more accomplished
team in 2005.
FOOTBALLERS RETURN TO ACTION WITH A DRAW
18 October 2004
Our Footballers were back in action yesterday and played out a 1-4
apiece draw with Thomas McCurtain's at Greenford in a League game where
both defences held the upper hand.
We got off to a flyer with a goal from makeshift
full-forward Paul Healy on 2 minutes after good work from Shane Sweeney
and Alan Wilson. For the rest of the half however McCurtain's backs were
on top and we only had two fine Sweeney points to show on the scoreboard
by the interval.
In the full-back line both Hugh Haughian and
Ronan McGinn were having stormers and repelling McCurtain's attacks
throughout the opening half. Unfortunately a defensive mix up involving
'keeper Kenny led to the concession of a goal on 20 minutes and we
eventually went in trailing by a solitary point.
Unfortunately the second-half was spoiled as a
spectacle by a torrential downpour that forced referee Con Dee to call a
temporary halt to proceedings early in the half and the conditions
underfoot were so bad on the resumption of play that scoring became a
lottery. Dougie Gray managed to keep his feet and solo through to bring
us level but McCurtains regained the lead again before Brian O'Connor
kept his cool to slot over a free in the dying seconds of the game and
we finished level on a 1-4 apiece scoreline.
Apart from the aforementioned, credit must go to
Marty McKee, Niall Coyne and Colm Murphy for their perfomances as well
as the industry of the "ubiquitious" Donal Lyons ! Further forward
Fergus Toomey gave a solid performance in the centreforward berth and
Brian O'Connor and Peter Dynes worked hard throughout despite slight
injuries that restricted them somewhat.
Overall a good workout for the footballers after
a break from competitive action over the last month and a half and
here's hoping that they can go on from there to retain the Mullarkey Cup
in the forthcoming weeks ahead.
